The bathroom is one of the most used areas of the home. This room should feel comfortable, clean, and provide functionality and style because you aren't the only ones using this room, your guests are too. If you have an outdated bathroom, a bathroom that needs remodeling, or it's time for a complete overhaul, you likely know you have your work cut out for you. Some things you may be able to do on your own, while other things you may have to hire a bathroom renovation contractor. Read on for some of the updates you can do yourself.
1. Paint the Vanity
Paint the vanity in your bathroom to give it a new look. If you have a wooden vanity that has an older honey oak look to it, you can paint it with chalk paint, or you can sand it and stain it with a different color stain. Painting is an easier way to renovate a vanity. You need to clean it thoroughly with a deep cleaner, then wipe it down to rinse away the cleaner. Apply a primer to the vanity, then paint it with any color or type of paint you prefer to use. The primer is important in getting the paint to adhere properly. Let the paint cure for at least 24 hours. If using chalk paint, apply a wax over the paint to give it a shine.
2. Replace the Mirror
Replace the mirror in your bathroom with a newer, more modern one. If you have a medicine cabinet mirror, you'll have to find something that will fit in the same space. You may be able to cover the space with a more traditional space, but if you aren't sure how to fill in the hole in your wall, you may need to hire a remodeling contractor to help you.
3. Paint the Tile
Paint your tile floor to update your bathroom and create a one-of-a-kind tile. If your tile is outdated, or you just don't like it, you can paint over the top of it. Give the tile a good cleaning, then rough sand it. Wipe up the sanding dust, then start painting. You can paint it all one color, including the grout, or you can paint the tile using a stencil.
If your bathroom is a bit lackluster, there are things you can do to update it. If you need an overhaul of your bathroom and a start from scratch, hire a professional bathroom remodeling contractor for help.
